Amy is an organizational development specialist with seven years experience in strategic planning, fundraising and public relations for nonprofits and their Boards of Directors. Her unique skills have been developed through her tenure as a non-profit staff member, Board member to four statewide organizations, and consultant to all three sectors. These myriad perspectives are the building blocks of her approach to organizational change. Under Amy's leadership, Bloom's strong track record has grown to include projects of all sizes. National and international projects include a multi-million dollar capital campaign for the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia and counsel on the Grace Children's Foundation's entry into corporate partnerships in Beijing, China. Smaller or more local projects include board development and operations consulting to the Arlington-Alexandria Coalition for the Homeless, strategic planning counsel to Reston Interfaith and fundraising assistance to Crosslink International related to their tsunami relief efforts. Before founding her own firm, Amy was an Affiliate Support Manager for NARAL Pro-Choice America, where she worked to build the capacity of the 26 state chapters in their nationwide affiliate network. Prior to NARAL, Amy was a Senior Consultant for Reingold, Inc., where she specialized in nonprofit training and development. Her assistance revitalized organizations such as the Children's Law Center and Operation Smile. In addition, she developed training seminars on resource development, board development, proposal writing, strategic planning and marketing which she delivered to over 100 clients.

In her post-graduate career, Amy spent time researching and publishing on women's issues. Her most recent work and her first book is Raising the Bar: Ruth Bader Ginsburg and the ACLU Women's Rights Project, released in April 2004, and described by Justice Ginsburg as “the most accurate account of her role as an advocate.” Amy turned her love for the written word into a publishing career and formalized the publishing division of Bloom Consulting LLC in 2003. The firm was rebranded in 2006 as Bloom Consulting + Publishing.

Amy is active in her community and serves as a founding Board member of the Virginia Network of Nonprofit Organizations (VANNO). In 2002, Governor Warner appointed her to the Governor's Commission on Community and National Service, where she served on the Executive Committee.
